MARKET ASSESSMENT
If the fundraising process is to succeed, it must incorporate the views of all the constituencies that will have a role in your funding. JWA will work with your organization to conduct a market assessment based on face-to-face interviews. Information, both objective and subjective, will be gathered from a wide array of sources, including staff and board members, community leaders, funders and partner organizations, and friends of your organization, among others. Outside counsel provides expertise and objectivity that organizational staff and volunteers do not have. People interviewed by the outside consultant will tend to be more candid in expressing their opinions than they might be to an organization's staff or to a volunteer who is their peer. The more candid the answers to the study, the more accurate the assessment of the organization's ability to support to sustain growth.

The Indianapolis Legal Aid Society retained Jessica White Associates to conduct a Development Audit and to make recommendations to enhance the organization s fund raising capabilities. Jessica personally spent several hours with the Board, staff, and interested individuals and groups in central Indiana to assess the organization, study the history of the group, and review its mission in the community. Jessica presented the organization with a comprehensive list of options that ILAS should consider and the organization is currently in the process of formulating its next long range plan. This plan will drive the organization for the next five years. The JWA plan has allowed the Indianapolis Legal Aid Society to expand its development thought process and will allow the organization to increase its donor base.
